Cozad Invitational Wrestling Results

The Cozad Haymakers hosted a wrestling invitational over the weekend. From our listening area, Lexington had the best performance, finishing in second place with a team score of 205. Adams Central won the event with a score of 233. Elsewhere, Gothenburg took eighth place with 71 points and Cozad finished 12th with a score of 34.

Cozad’s Jacob Hoffman took first place in the 126 pound championship match defeating Lexington’s Henry Gonzalez in a 4-2 decision. Kolton Heinz also placed fifth for the Haymakers at 120.

Lexington champions came at 120 pounds and also at 285. Alam Alvarez won by decision 9-8 over Devin Ushio of Alliance to secure the championship at 120 pounds. Luis Nunez won by injury default over Tucker Wintholz of Sidney two minutes into the match.

Elsewhere for Lexington, Henry Gonzalez was runner up 126, Wesley Winter was runner up at 145 and Logan Farrell was runner up at 182. Third place finishers included Mike Nguyen at 113, Dakota Hernandez at 138 and Mario Barraza at 160.

Gothenburg did not have any champions during Saturday’s meet, but did produce one runner up at 170 pounds. Skyler Kottwitz dropped the first place match to Keith Wolverton of Seward in a 16-2 major decision. Other top performers for the Swedes were Bryce Larson at 106, who finished third and Jayden Miller at 145, who finished fourth.
