Funeral Services for Louise Hermansen, age 91, of North Platte, formerly of Arnold
Funeral Services for Louise Hermansen, age 91, of North Platte, formerly of Arnold, will be held on Friday, January 13, at 2:00pm, at the United Methodist Church of Arnold, with Rev. Dale Coates officiating. Burial will be in the Arnold Cemetery with Arnold Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Visitation will be held Thursday at the funeral home from 2:00-6:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials to the Arnold Fire & Resue Unit or the donor's choice.
Louise is survived by her daughters Karen (Raymond) Holt of Arnold, Lila (Bill) Pile of Gurley, 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, sister Twyla Kramer of North Platte, sister-in-law Frances Long of North Platte, as well as a number of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband Virgil, 3 brothers and 5 sisters.
Louise born May 30, 1920 in Arnold to Port & Emma (Potter) Long, and grew up in Logan, Lincoln, and Custer counties, and attended rural schools. July 30, 1939 she married Virgil Hermansen in Tryon. To this union was born two daughters. The family lived in Logan County for 18 years until a tornado in 1975 destroyed the farm buildings. Louise worked several jobs in Arnold, including the bakery, the school, Arnold Livestock Cafe, Marj's Cafe, the library, and helped Virgil mowing at the cemetery. Her favorite pastimes were with her family and visiting her friends. Other activities she enjoyed attending dances, reading, playing cards, walking, and crocheting. She made and gave away hundreds of afghans.
