LVC Tournament Begins Monday
A busy week of sports gets underway Monday evening in Callaway. It is tournament basketball time as the Loup Valley Conference takes place all this week. The boys' tournament begins first with three games Monday night on 95.3 FM. First it's a matchup of the number five seed Mullen Broncos (10-9) against the number four seed Anselmo-Merna Coyotes (5-9). The Broncos and Coyotes tip off at 5 p.m. The winner of that game gets number one seed Sandhills/Thedford (12-4) on Thursday in Broken Bow. The Knights hold a first round bye. The second game will begin around 6:30 and features number three seed Twin Loup (9-7) against a dangerous number six seed in Litchfield (6-9). The Trojans took the LVC Tournament last year. The final game of the night will pit the number two seed South Loup (7-6) against Arcadia (4-11). The boys' semifinals will take place Thursday evening at Broken Bow High School with the championship and consolation games held on Saturday. The girls' opening round begins on Tuesday.
