Lexington earns first victory, doubleheader sweep over Broken Bow
BROKEN BOW- Tuesday was a big night for Lexington basketball. Not only did they get their first doubleheader sweep of the season, but the boys’ team got their first victory of the season as they defeated Broken Bow 58-51.
It was a long time coming for the Minutemen who last won a game 376 days ago against Cozad. They have dominated the series against Broken Bow as of late. Lexington has won four straight regular season meetings with the Indians. In fact, the last time Broken Bow defeated Lexington was December 7, 2007 when they won 79-52.
Jeremy Callahan led the Minutemen with 20 points in the win. He led all players in scoring. The Indians had three players score in double figures, led by Michael Coleman with 12 points, while Hunter Campbell and Marcus Miller each had 11.
Broken Bow drops to 3-13 with the loss and just 1-6 at home. Lexington improves to 1-17. The Indians travel to Ogallala on Saturday.
The Minutemaids also were victorious on Tuesday as they beat the Lady Indians 57-34. Lexington has now won five straight games to improve to 12-6 this season.
Sydney Seberger scored a game high 31 points for Lexington, while Broken Bow was led by Hallie Jones with 12.
Broken Bow falls to 3-13 and will visit Ogallala on Saturday.
