Eight-Man All-Star Game Kicks off Saturday
The 35th annual Eight-Man All-Star football game will be held this weekend at Hastings College.
Headlining the event is Iowa recruit and recent Giltner all-state star Drew Ott. The 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end joins fellow teammate Logan Rath, a 6-foot-3, 250 pound second team Super-State lineman on the East team.
Starring on the West team are Sargent standouts Jed and Guy Fenske, Zane Ellis of South Loup and Jacob Olmstead of Overton.
Other area athletes on the West roster include, Colin Janitscheck of Pleasanton, Dillan Line of Sumner-Eddyville-Miller, Joseph Christen of Anselmo-Merna, Drew Bowers of South Loup and Jacob Saathoff of Amherst. The head coach of the West team is South Loup’s Andy Schwarz. He’ll be assisted by Bobcats assistant Abe Hinman, Brent Streeter of Bertrand and Jeff Shabram of Clearwater/Orchard.
Leading the East team will be Humphrey coach Bob McEvoy. He’ll be assisted by Cory Groenke of Humphrey, Cletus Corman of Deshler and Mitchell Shepherd of Pawnee City.
The game will be played Saturday afternoon at 1:30 in Hastings.
