Pep Rally For Dlagnev This Weekend

There will be a public reception in Kearney this weekend for former UNK wrestler Tervel Dlagnev, a two-time national heavyweight champion.

The pep rally will be held at the UNK Alumni House at 2222 9th Avenue. Members of the Lopers 2012 national champion team will also be in attendance. The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, June 24th.

Earlier in the day, Dlagnev will be signing posters at the Hilltop Mall in Kearney and free will donations will be accepted. He will be outside fro 1 to 3:30 p.m. near The Sporting Edge and inside the mall from 3 to 4 p.m. near Sports Village.

On Friday and Saturday, June 22-23, Dlagnev and former Ohio State star J.D. Bergman will be in Norfolk at Lutheran Northeast High hosting a youth camp.

Dlagnev, who now resides in Columbus, Ohio, competes in the London Summer Games on Saturday, August 11th. He will be in the men’s freestyle 120 kg bracket and has a great chance of earning a medal.

While at UNK, Dlagnev won two national championships in the heavyweight division and finished on a 71-match win streak and a school record 167 victories.
