MIAA TV Network May Be Coming to Central Nebraska

The Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) announced plans Thursday to continue carrying sports on the MIAA TV network for the upcoming season. The UNK Lopers will be featured on the network twice during the football season, but whether Central Nebraska consumers will get to see those games on TV remains a question.

The MIAA is in its third year with Kansas City-based Niles Media Group to provide production, distribution and media sales for the broadcast network. The network was launched in 2010 and showcased 10 football games and 10 basketball games in each of its first two years on television.

Games will be available to cable customers in Missouri, Kansas and Iowa, but are currently unavailable to Nebraska customers. John Sprugel, one of the founders of Niles Media Group said via e-mail, that his company is working to bring the MIAA Network to Central Nebraska.

“We have talked to the local marketing manager at Charter Cable in Kearney about carrying the entire schedule of the MIAA Network. She seemed interested in bringing this Network to their subscribers, but we have not received an answer at this time,” said Sprugel.

Nebraska-Kearney will join the MIAA for the upcoming school year and will be featured on the MIAA Network twice during the football season against Missouri Western on September 15th and again October 6th when the Lopers host Truman.
