Three Broken Bow Attorneys Apply for 8th Judicial District Position

Three Broken Bow attorneys have thrown their hats in the ring to be the next judge for the 8th Judicial District. Michael S. Borders, Gary G. Peterson, and Tami K. Schendt, all of Broken Bow, have submitted applications to fill the vacancy left by the retirement of Judge Gary G. Washburn. The district consists of the counties of Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Cherry, Custer, Garfield, Greeley, Holt, Howard, Keya Paha, Loup, Rock, Sherman, Valley, and Wheeler. There will be a public hearing of the judicial Nominating Commission in the District Courtroom at the Custer County Courthouse located in Broken Bow, beginning at 1:00 pm on Thursday, July 12th. The public is welcome to attend the hearing and present information concerning candidates for the judicial opening. Anyone wishing to publicly comment favorably on qualifications of the applicants should attempt to coordinate with the applicants. Public comments in opposition to the applicants will be received at the hearing.
