Husker Bowlers Compete at National Events
The Nebraska bowling team is being represented at two premier events by a total of 11 past, present and future bowlers.
Former Huskers Cassie Leuthold, Shannon Pluhowsky, Kayla Johnson, Valerie Calberry, Jamie Martin, Lindsay Baker, Adrienne Miller, Diandra (Hyman) Asbaty and Angie Chirpich, as well as current Husker Elise Bolton, are competing at the U.S. Women’s Open, in Reno, Nev. Competition began on Friday, June 22, and ends on Wednesday, June 27. The finals air on tape-delay Tuesday, July 3 on ESPN2 at 7 p.m. (CT).
A native of England, incoming freshman Beth Hedley will compete for England at the World Youth Championships in Bangkok, Thailand. She and the rest of her team will compete against some of the top youth bowlers around the world, with 50 countries represented in the tournament. Competition began June 22, and ends July 3.
