Carolyn Troxel named Great Plains Communications Outstanding Teacher of the Year

Broken Bow middle school teacher Carolyn Troxel was just named the Great Plains Communications Outstanding Teacher of the year this afternoon! She thought it was a regular Thursday afternoon for the middle schoolers, with a presentation to be held in the auditorium. Little did she know, the room filled with excited students and teachers were there to celebrate her.

Casey Garrigan with Great Plains and Principal Rusty Kluender were there to announce Carolyn Troxel to the stage. “You are—and we are announcing right now—the Great Plains Communications Outstanding teacher of the year!” This statement was followed by thunderous applause from the students.

Great Plains serves more than 100 communities and receives a great deal of applications. Garrigan said the committee collectively said, “she’s our winner” when they read Troxel’s application.

Troxel, a middle school English teacher, lives for the success of her students, whether big or small and loves the moments of inspiration she experiences in the classroom.

“I am just shocked, I’m shaking. I just had no idea! They said there was a teacher award, but I just didn’t have any idea because there are good teachers all over this school. Nobody said anything!”

Congratulations, Carolyn Troxel!
