It was a cloudy and rainy day at Lexington High School on Thursday for the 2008 Girls and Boys District B Track and Field meet. The Hastings St. Cecilia Girls won the District B-5 Championship with 90 points, Broken Bow and Holdrege tied for 2nd with 86, St. Paul was 4th with 62, Northwest came in 5th with 47, Adams Central took 6th with 40, Cozad was 7th with 37 points, Lexington came in 8th with 31, Ord had 26 points to take 9th and Minden had 22 points to finish 10th. In the Girls Field events, Kellie Peterson of Ord took 2nd in the High Jump jumping 5 feet 1 inch, Chelsey Jones of Broken Bow placed 4th getting over the bar in 4 feet 11 inches and Jessi Graham of BBHS came in 6th with a jump of 4 feet 10 inches. Two athletes for Holdrege placed in the Pole Vault as Kristin Killough took 1st powering over in 10 feet 10 inches and Kellie Fegter tied for 3rd with a clearing height of 10 feet 2 inches. In the Girls Long Jump, Lexington was 3rd and 4th as Marissa Richman jumped 15 4 1/4 taking 3rd and Molly Berke tied for 4th jumping 15 feet 2 1/4. In the Girls Triple Jump, Marissa Richman of Lexington had another tremendous performance qualifying for state with a jump of 32 feet 11 1/4, Rily Sickels of Holdrege came in 4th jumping 32 feet 3 inches and Rebecca Weber of Cozad was 6th jumping 31 feet 2 1/4. In the Girls Shot Put, Cozad grabbed 1st and 2nd qualifying 2 throwers for state as Carlie Pinkleman threw 42 feet, Carly Henry threw 41 feet 10 inches, Jenn Gnirk of Lexington threw 36 feet 11 1/2 and Hayley Mondt of Holdrege took 5th throwing 35 feet 9 1/4. In the Girls Discus, Hayley Mondt of Holdrege was victorious taking 1st with a state qualifying throw of 117 feet 11 inches, Carlie Pinkleman of Cozad also had another impressive performance taking 2nd with a throw of 117 feet 7 inches, Ann Ahrens of Minden was 3rd with a throw of 115 feet 8 inches, Shacari Canas of Cozad came in 4th with a throw of 115 feet 7 inches and Lindsey Vancura of Ord took 5th throwing 114 feet 4 inches. In the Girls sprinting events, Tabitha Kreutzer secured a spot to state next week by winning the 100 in 12.6 and Shelby Hamilton of Broken Bow placed 6th in 13.3. In the Girls 200, Kreutzer of Holdrege was triumphant again taking 1st in 26.7 and Taylor Johnson of Broken Bow qualified for state taking 4th in 27.5. In the Girls 400, Shelby Hamilton of BBHS came in 2nd qualifying for state with a time of 1:01, Morgan Riley of Cozad was 3rd in 1:01.8 and Bailie Muller of Minden took 6th in 1:06.1. In the Girls 100 meter hurdles, the Lady Indians placed 1st and 3rd as Lauren Briggs hurdled towards the finish line winning in 2 tenths of a second with a time of 16 flat, Callie Arnold of BBHS was 3rd in 16.2, Laurin Robertson of Ord took 5th in 16.6 and Lindsey Sitorius of Minden was 6th in 16.7. In the Girls 300 meter hurdles, Callie Arnold of Broken Bow placed 2nd with a time of 49.2, Hailey Mandelko of Lexington came in 3rd with a time of 49.5, Lauren Briggs of Broken Bow grabbed 4th with a time of 49.9 and Mallory Murdoch of Holdrege came in 6th with a time of 52.4. In the Girls distance events, Katie White was victorious in the 800 taking 1st with a time of 2:20.7, Tessa Kreutzer of Holdrege placed 3rd in 2:26.9 and Kellie Peterson of Ord came in 4th with a time of 2:32. In the Girls 1600, Katie White of Broken Bow won by over 30 seconds with a time of 5:16.6, while Ashley Daily and Erica Burr of Holdrege came in 4th and 6th running 5:58.4 and 6:07.3. In the Girls 3200 meters, Katie White had another incredible performance taking 1st with a time of 12:02.3, Alisha Peterson of Ord was 2nd running 12:32.1 and Rashelle Smith of Holdrege was 3rd with a time of 12:38. In the Girls relay events, Hastings grabbed 1st in the 4 by 800 with a time of 10:11.7, Adams Central was 2nd running 10:13.9, Holdrege came in 3rd running 10:29, Lexington was 4th with a time of 10:29.4, Minden was 5th running 10:34.6 and Broken Bow took 6th with a time of 10:51.4. In the Girls 4 by 100 relay, Northwest won by one tenth of a second running 51.2, Holdrege was 2nd with a time of 51.3, St. Paul placed 3rd running 51.9, Minden was 4th with a time of 52 seconds, Broken Bow took 5th running 52.1 and Adams Central was 6th with a time of 52.6. In the Girls Mile relay, Hastings St. Cecilia was 1st running 4:11.4, Minden was 2nd in 4:12.7, Broken Bow took 3rd in 4:13.5, Holdrege grabbed 4th in 4:14.6, Ord came in 5th in 4:22.5 and Adams Central was 6th in 4:23.3.
The Northwest Boys easily won the District B-5 Championship picking up 126 points, Lexington was a distant 2nd with 99, Hastings St. Cecilia was 3rd with 58, St. Paul took 4th with 50, Adams Central was 5th with 49, Hastings came in 6th with 34, Minden grabbed 7th with 32, Cozad was 8th with 30, Broken Bow took 9th with 29, Ord came in 10th with 12 and Holdrege was 11th with 8 points. In the Boys Field events, Cozad had 3 throwers place in the top 6 of the Shot Put and 1 qualified for state as Matt Henry of CHS took 3rd with a throw of 51 feet 5 1/4, Derek Gaston of Broken Bow came in 4th throwing 50 feet 11 1/2, Kyle Cardenas of Cozad was 5th with a throw of 48 feet 10 1/2 and Michael Wurst of CHS took 6th with a throw of 47 feet 5 inches. Matt Henry of Cozad was 1st qualifying for state in the Discus with a throw of 154 feet 9 inches, Jake Stokely of BBHS also qualified for state taking 4th with a throw of 148 feet 7 inches and Colby Smets of Lexington came in 6th with a throw of 143 feet 9 inches. In the Boys Triple Jump, Lexington had two jumpers place in the top 6 and 1 qualified for state as Hawken Albus was 3rd jumping 41 feet 9 inches and Andrew Clark came in 6th with a jump of 39 feet 10 inches. In the Boys Pole Vault, Derek Leth of Ord and Austin Hendrickson of Broken Bow both qualified for state taking 2nd and 3rd powering over in 13 feet 7 inches and 13 feet 1 inch, while Jordan Smith of Minden and Adam Russell of Holdrege took 5th and 6th getting over the bar in 12 feet 1 inch. In the Boys High Jump, Lincoln Pearson of Holdrege placed 6th with a jump 5 feet 11 inches. In the Boys sprinting events, Jason Luong of Cozad took 4th in the 100 in 11.2 and Justin Sheldon of Lexington was 5th in 11.3. In the Boys 200, Justin Sheldon placed again in the top 6 for LHS taking 4th in 23.3, while Jason Luong and Brandon Woldt of Cozad took 5th and 6th running 23.4 and 23.7. In the Boys 400, Lexington had 3 runners place in the top 5 as Zach Schmidt and Roberto Romero grabbed 1st and 2nd qualifying for state running 50.7 and 51 flat, while Zach Bomberger of LHS was 5th with a time of 52.3. In the Boys 110 meter high hurdles, Dustin Marten of Broken Bow was victorious taking 1st and qualifying for state running 15.3, Kellen Shhroeder and Tyler Tingelhoff of Lexington were 2nd and 5th, while Adam Svoboda of Holdrege came in 6th. In the Boys 300 meter hurdles, Lexington qualified 2 runners to state as Tyler Tingelhoff was awarded 1st running 40.5, Kellen Schroeder ran 41.3 placing 2nd and Tyler Vaughn of Minden came in 6th running 42.8. Lexington also had 2 runners place in the 800 and 1 qualified for state as Daniel Avalos was 3rd running 2:04.5 and Roberto Romero came in 6th running 2:07.2. In the Boys 1600, Al Sanabria of Minden took 1st by one tenth of a second running 4:35.7, Nate Rios of Lexington came in 5th with a time of 4:48.7 and Jarid Holliday of Minden was 6th running 4:49.3. In the Boys 3200, Al Sanabria was victorious for Minden again this time by 3 tenths of a second taking 1st in 10:04.6, Jarid Holliday of Minden was 2nd in 10:04.9, Jason Pedersen of Broken Bow came in 4th qualifying for state with a time of 10:15, Sean Trampe of Ord was 5th in 10:22.9 and Nate Rios of Lexington took 6th in 10:31. In the relay events, Lexington won the 4 by 800 in 8:08.2, Adams Central was 2nd in 8:11, Northwest placed 3rd in 8:15, Holdrege was 4th in 8:27.9, Ord took 5th in 8:28.6 and Hastings finished 6th in 8:33.3. In the Boys 4 by 100 relay, Northwest took 1st by one tenth of a second in 43.8, St. Paul was 2nd in 44.2, Lexington came in 3rd in 44.7, Cozad was 4th in 44.9, Hastings came in 5th in 45.6 and Broken Bow picked up 6th in 46.2. In the Boys Mile relay, Lexington was 1st in 3:26.5, St. Paul came in a close 2nd running 3:29.1, Northwest was 3rd in 3:31, Adams Central took 4th in 3:36.8, Hastings was 5th and Holdrege came in 6th.
The Broken Bow boys golf team hosted a Triangular on Thursday against Holdrege and Lexington. Holdrege won competition by one stroke with a team score of 164, Lexington was a close 2nd shooting 165 and Broken Bow was 3rd with a 179. John Dillard of Lexington carded the low score shooting a 39. Max Maguire of Lexington and Logan Spanel of Broken Bow both shot a 44, RJ Seberger of Lexington, along with Jason Nohalty and Mitchell White of BBHS all shot a 45, Travis VanEperen of Holdrege shot a 46, while the Indians Quentin Orr had a 48 and Preston Peterson of BBHS shot a 49.
